This was a crazy audacious attempt at a stout Colorado Trail record by Mike McKnight. He has an impressive running resume including smashing the Triple Crown of 200s winning all three races in one year. So it was very possible that Mike would have a good shot at breaking this record. I came along to support and pace so I could see it up close and spend tome time on the Colorado Trail myself. My pal Dax Hock and I teamed up to get out there and join a great crew headed by Ben Light (another accomplished Ultra Runner). Watching Mike keep moving forward as he descended into a more and more sleep deprived Zombie like state was such an interesting experience.
